TThe progressive house DJ Samed Kholod from Russia has done something that no DJ has done before – he climbed 4,810 meters to Mount Elbrus to do a literally high-reaching DJ set, which may get him into the Guinness Book of World Records.
Samed is not only passionate about DJing, but climbing as well, which certainly shines through in this ambitious project. He is (as far as we know) the world’s first DJ to have played a set on top of the Mount Elbrus – Europe’s highest point (at 5,642 meters).
According to an interview with Samed by PromoDJ (the interview is in Russian), it took him about a month to prepare for the climb, partially because he had to acquire the right equipment that could withstand the harsh weather conditions. The set was held at Pastukhov Rocks, and there were quite a few dancing attendees.
Samed has submitted an application to the Guinness Book of World Records, and it remains to be seen whether he will be the DJ to have played the highest DJ set in the world. But even if he doesn’t get to be a record holder, Samed is still amazed at having done a DJ set at Europe’s highest mountain, he tells PromoDJ.
