Bobby Owsinski On Beyoncé Lip-Syncing Debacle
BBobby Owsinski, an author of numerous books on music business and recording who we interviewed on a Dotted Music Talks podcast in January, was recently asked to give his expert opinion on the topic of what really happened in regards to Beyoncé’s infamous presidential inauguration performance.
Bobby Owsinski has had years of experience as a producer and analyzes classic songs track by track on his blog. As he stated in an interview with ABC’s 20/20, “There’s always one tell-tale sign that most people overlook. It’s not the attack of the phrase — most vocalists that are lip syncing will get that right. It’s the end.” Bobby goes on to explain that when she releases on the word “brave,” she is slightly off with the prerecording. He explains that you can also see her take a breath that does not align with the prerecorded track.
Reports speculate that Beyoncé’s team decided to go ahead with the prerecorded track, rather than sing live, the night before the inauguration. To view the complete interview, click here or watch below.
A long-time music industry veteran and an Alfred Music Publishing author, Bobby Owsinski started his career as a guitar and keyboard player, songwriter, and arranger, eventually becoming an in-demand producer-engineer working not only with a variety of recording artists, but on commercials, television, and motion pictures as well.
