by:Larm – Showcasing The Future Of Music
BBy:Larm is an annual music event in Oslo, Norway that takes place from March 4-7. The days will be filled with seminars and music performances.
Although the aim of by:Larm is to to present up-and-coming artists on the verge of breaking through, there will be a lot of music related seminars. There’ll be panel debates about topics such as women in hip hop, Q&As with famous artists, and seminars on crowdfunding, digital marketing, and the future of EDM, to mention a few.
Among the speakers is our very own Andrew Apanov, and artists such as Beatrice Eli, Carnival Kids, Miriam Bryant and S!VAS will take the stage.
by:Larm has been around since 1998, and at the time it was primarily a conference for the music industry. However, the event has focused more on the live performances in recent years. Last year, highlights included seminars on YouTube-marketing, streaming platforms and the state of live music, while John Cale, James Murphy and others played live. Here’s a recap-video of last year’s festival.
by:Larm 2015 will focus on the tech side of things – they’re calling it by:Larm Interactive. Besides having diverse artists and interesting seminars, this year’s by:Larm will also be visited by 15 Norwegian startups, selected by a jury. Next year, the startup selection will expand to include Nordic startups. There will also be a tech program featuring media strategist and author Ryan Holiday, and Dana Severson, founder of “Start Up Anonymous”, among others.
Another addition to this year’s by:Larm is the songwriting camp called by:Songs. Songwriters and artists will gather in studios in Oslo, and top A&R people and record company executives from the US has been invited to check out the songs to be created.
