An Exciting Musician’s Resource: myband.is
FFor a band with limited resources and even less time, look no further than myband.is, a tool for musicians to “create a slick, customized website that updates automatically”.

myband.is
The site further promises a service that requires no, or little maintenance – something that I think it achieves admirably.
Here at Dotted Music, we’re inundated with review requests for websites that make similar promises to the musician. We usually tackle them with one of three reactions:
- Consider.
- Ignore.
- Review.
This is by now means a black and white process, but myband.is gave me the best of impressions because of its immediacy. In a matter of 3o seconds I developed a page that, without setting the world alight, shows the great potential of the website.
By associating the links of your social media – from blogs to twitter, youtube and facebook – your myband.is displays their updates live, all in a confined space.
Another quality of the website is its simplicity, without which it would be severely limited. The process is easy, the website is free, and the results are immediately realised.
But the greatest compliment I can pay to the tool is to its name. There is something in telling someone: “Hey, check us out at myband.is/…” What more could you possibly ask for?
The only major flaw is that the website is still in beta, so you will need to request a special access code in order to use the tool; but this is astonishingly accomplished for a supposedly unfinished website.
So, what are you waiting for? Request your VIP code right away; you’ll be kicking yourself for waiting until the site launches in full.
