WWill.i.am will today premiere his new single, Reach for the Stars, on Mars as part of a an educational event hosted by NASA.

The event, which is part of NASA’s education program, will be an opportunity to share findings about Mars with students, whose interest in space exploration will no doubt be heightened by the broadcast of Will.i.am’s new single from the surface of the Red Planet via NASA’s Curiosity rover.
Although the event represents an opportunity for Will.i.am to promote his latest single, his interest in NASA’s role in education appears to be genuine. In fact, the new single, is described by NASA as “a new composition about the singer’s passion for science, technology and space exploration”.
The event will see members of the team that successfully landed the Curiosity rover on Mars earlier this month explain to students the mission and the technology behind the song’s interplanetary transmission.
Will.i.am will continue in his support of educating students, using the event as a launch pad for his organisation – the i.am.angel Foundation – to announce a new science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics initiative, featuring NASA assets such as the Mars Curiosity Rover.
This isn’t Will.i.am’s first collaborative event with NASA – he appeared in a video in March this year, in which he spoke about just some of the benefits of NASA’s space exploration.
